Connetable de Talbot
WHY BUY IT ?
- The second wine of a Médoc Grand Cru Classé
- One of the most famous properties of Médoc.
- This great notoriety is undoubtedly due to a mysterious combination of several factors: the size of its vineyard, near 100Ha, the regularity of its wine …
- A selection more and more rigorous.
The history of Château Talbot is rich. On the plateau of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, you can see Château Talbot from distance. It has the name of Connétable Talbot, famous English warrior. In 1855, during the classification of the Médoc and Graves vineyards commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III, Château Talbot was promoted to the fourth cru classé of Saint-Julien. The estate was acquired in 1917 by Désiré Cordier, then his son Georges and his grandson Jean succeeded him. Under their leadership, Château Talbot became one of Bordeaux’s most famous vintages. Today the property is managed by Nancy Bignon-Cordier, assisted by Jean-Pierre Marty. Connétable de Talbot is the second wine of the property.
The terroir of Château Talbot covers 107 hectares of vines in cultivation in the municipality of Saint-Julien. Ideally located on the edge of the Gironde estuary, its terroir is exceptional. The management of the vineyard is one of the most precise of the Médoc. The grape harvests are entirely manual and the methods of vinification and aging are adapted to the different styles of grapes. Connétable de Talbot benefited of all the care lavished on the vineyard and from a more and more severe selection.
At tasting, Connétable de Talbot, like is elder, is a classic and elegant wine, marked by a precise and clear personality, with a long finsh.
