History
The history of Château l’Isle Fort is closely linked to Henri IV. Indeed, more than 400 years ago the property hosted the King of France for several weeks. Since 2000, the Chateau has been taken over by Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet who immediately proceed to a complete renovation of the estate. Already owners of the famous Salon du Chocolat, the couple manages Château l’Isle Fort with passion. This is one of our favorite wines at BT, a wine we distribute exclusively, and one of the few we are proud to call “a gem“.
Terroir & Vinification
Château l’Isle Fort is a superb estate located at the gates of Bordeaux, in the town of Lignan. The vineyard is 8.20 hectares. There, the viticulture is highly accurate, under the counselling of Stéphane Derenoncourt. In the vineyard, the work undertaken has reduced yields to fully express the complexity of the vines. The average age of the vines is 18 years and the vineyard is divided between 58% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon. The soils are chalky clay loam. Each practice is made in reasoned phytosanitary control. The ageing is 50% in barrels and 50% in vats for 12 to 14 months.
Tasting
At the tasting, Château l’Isle Fort offers a pleasantly fruity wine with notes of macerated red berries with a velvety touch.
