History
The history of Château Berliquet is not really new since it is one of the oldest names in the Saint-Emilionnais vineyard. It was already on the maps of Belleyme in 1768. He obtained for the time (1784) a record of the sale price of his wine (245 pounds). In 1918 he was acquitted by the Count de Carles. This family known by Vital Carles (14th century), has owned many of the most prestigious wines of Saint-Emilion. Since 2017, Château Berliquet belongs to Chanel, already involved in Bordeaux vineyards for more than twenty years in Château Canon, but also Château Rauzan-Ségla, 2nd Grand Cru Classé in Margaux.
Terroir & Vinification
The vineyard, beautifully located on the plateau of Magdeleine, has benefited in recent years from many works and intensive care to obtain the best quality of a great wine aged in underground monolithic cellars. The grape variety is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is followed by the team of Château Canon, who brings him the same care. Vatting is 20 to 30 days in small thermo-regulated vats (50 to 70 hectoliters), alcoholic fermentation maintained between 28 ° and 30 ° C, malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. The wines rest for 14 to 16 months in the natural underground quarries of the castle.
