We are pleased to offer you today’s Château Le Doyenné 2006 and 2008:
This wine of the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation is located on the right bank of the Garonne at 15 km from Bordeaux. The vineyard has a total area of 8 uninterrupted hectares, covering gravel plateaux and clay and limestone hillsides. The vines are 30 years old on average. The grape variety proportion is 70% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 20% cabernet sauvignon.
The grapes are picked by hand, plot by plot and according to each variety to obtain perfectly healthy, ripe fruits. The grapes are sorted, gently destemmed and crushed before vatting. The very famous oenologist Michel Rolland is the one who designed the vat room. A cold maceration is led before the fermentations, then “gentle vinifications” during 4 weeks in very little vats, and finally a malolactic fermentation in barrels which makes possible the preservation of all the aromas. The wines are then aged in oak barrels for 18 months in an air-conditioned cellar. In a couple words, everything is done like in the grands crus classés.
