History

The history of Château Bouscaut goes back to the 19th century when the property was acquired by the Chabanneau family. In 1925, the Château Bouscaut became the property of the Count of Rivaud and Victor Place who decided to renovate the estate through major works (drainage of the vineyard, elevation of the house, addition of a tower & renovation of the cellars). After many adventures, Lucien Lurton finally took over the reins of the property in 1979. He already owns a dozen Grands Crus in various appellations of Bordeaux. In 1992, he handed Château Bouscaut to his children. Thus, Sophie & her husband Laurent Cogombles manage the property since 1997.

Since 2011, the property opens to the public since tasting rooms are arranged to accommodate visitors and the adjoining property is transformed into bed and breakfast. This estate is one of the very few to be classified for the rd and the white wine

Terroir & Vinification

The vineyard of Château Bouscaut spreads over a clay-limestone and gravels soils. The grape variety is composed of 55% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Malbec. Château Bouscaut wines are vinified in stainless steel and concrete vats. The wine are ageing in oak barrels (40% new).

At the tasting, Château Bouscaut Red offers an aromatic and generous wine, very well balanced, with strong tannins.
