Château Franc

The history of Château Franc, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, is closely linked to Château Franc Patarabet since it is a wine from this beautiful property belonging to the Faure-Barraud family for six generations. Indeed, in the middle of the 19th century, Michel Barraud began the creation of the vineyard of Franc Patarabet and passed on his love for the vine and the wine to his descendants. Today, Château Franc Patarabet is directed by Jean-Philippe Faure, assisted by his two sons Sylvain and Pierre-François.

The terroir of Château Franc stretches over 4 hectares of vineyards located at the foot of the village of Saint-Emilion. The soils are sandy and clay-limestone and the grape variety is predominantly Merlot, supplemented by Cabernets Franc and Cabernets Sauvignon. The Faure-Barraud family is committed to perpetuating the family tradition and it is in this spirit that the vineyard is conducted in sustainable agriculture, in respect of the environment: no fertilizer, no weeding, no insecticides. The cellars of the property are still located today in the village of Saint-Emilion. The winemaking is traditional, in tanks of small capacities with a good control of the temperatures. The aging is done in oak barrels renewed by third for 12 months.

At the tasting, the Château Franc offers a wine typical of its appellation, a powerful Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, all in length with great aging potential.
