The history of Château Pontac Monplaisir goes back to the 16th century when the property belonged to the Pontac family. In 1920, the estate is taken over by the Maufras family. It was not until 1985 that the Pontac family Château took its final name Château Pontac Monplaisir. At the time, the area of ??the vineyard was 50 hectares. During the Second World War, the property was abandoned and it was only in 1955 that the vineyard was regrouped.
Today the Château Pontac Monplaisir vineyard stretches over 16 hectares of vines planted on a sandy clayey sandy-gravel soil. The winemaking is conducted by the 3rd generation of the family represented by Mr Alain Maufras and his son. The vines are 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 55% Merlot for the Reds and 50% Sémillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sauvignon Gris for the Whites. Harvesting is manual with sorting directly on the vine. The cellar is equipped with a thermal regulation. The breeding lasts on average between 13 and 15 months.
At the tasting, Château Pontac Monplaisir Rouge offers a brilliant dress. The nose suggests aromas of fresh black fruit and roasted notes. In the mouth, the wine has a nice concentration, a woody and roundness.
