During the month of January 2010 we went to visit some of our Châteaux partners to see if this exceptional 2009 announced by the press is also in the less prestigious wines. Well YES we are having a great vintage. All the wines we tasted are already round, very fruity, almost can drink them now. Not green, not aggressive, but happiness. We started with Ch Le Coteau in the Margaux appellation, whose owner, each year, rising quality of its wines. It is a real discovery : small stainless tanks, barrel cellar, rational agriculture (he does not talk about bio because he does not find that the bio is so organic that it …). It is just as great and it is felt well into the glass. We are then left to the northern Médoc, Bégadan, go to taste one of our best value the Ch Pontet Barrail. Same feeling here: the owner is extremely confident. It was harvested relatively late to get the ripest grapes possible. A true success. Check after a great lunch we were driving to St Estephe at Ch Martin. Same impression: a lot of color, fruit on all the varietals. We’re off to Listrac and then we expect the owner of Ch Croix de Reverdi (Haut Medoc). Always the same discourse of serenity compared to the vintage. Deep color, ripe fruit. We feel that the vineyard has matured. We returned to Bordeaux extremely optimistic about the quality of this 2009:our customers will be happy.
